Google Nest Wifi QR Code: Share Your Network with Guests
Find your network details in Google Home, make a guest Wi-Fi QR code, and avoid confusing router setup codes with codes guests can scan.
Searches for a “Google Wifi QR code” can refer to two jobs: setting up a Nest Wifi device in Google Home, or helping a visitor join an existing wireless network. This guide covers the visitor connection.
Find the credentials in Google Home
- Open the Google Home app for the home that owns the network.
- Open Favorites → Wi-Fi → Share password. Google says you can swipe left to view a guest network password.
- Copy the password. Confirm the exact guest network name in your Wi-Fi settings or router configuration.
- Enter the name and password in the generator, download the image, and test it from another device.
The sharing path comes from Google’s Nest Wifi and Google Wifi help. If your app has a different layout, look for Wi-Fi and password sharing rather than relying on an old screenshot.
Choose the right network for the sign
If you have a separate guest network, put that SSID in the QR code. Keep the main network’s credentials off a public card. The QR stores the password needed to join; it does not conceal that password from someone who can inspect the code. Put the network name in plain text beside the print so visitors can verify what they are joining.
Do not use the device setup QR
During Nest Wifi setup, Google Home may ask you to scan a QR label on the router or point. That label identifies the device during setup. It is not a reusable guest Wi-Fi sign. Google describes it in the Nest Wifi setup guide. Make a separate code from the guest SSID and password for visitors.
Test after changes
Print one copy and scan it with a phone that has not already saved the network, or forget the network on a test phone first. Confirm that the scan displays the intended guest SSID, joins successfully, and reaches the internet. If you change the guest password, make a fresh QR code and remove old cards. If the code scans but the phone has no internet, check the Google Home network status before redesigning the print.
