QR Code Generator with Logo: Make a Code That Still Scans

Add a logo to a free QR code, choose scan reliability settings, and test the exported file. Includes upload limits and fixes for designs that fail.

Quick answer

To make a QR code with a logo, enter your destination in the free URL QR code generator, open Customize the look, and upload your image. Select High under Scan reliability, keep the center design small, and test the downloaded file and finished artwork. A logo is decoration; it does not change the encoded link.

A logo can sit in the middle of a QR code, but it covers part of the pattern. The useful question is whether the finished design still reads easily. Build a working plain code first, then add the mark and compare the results.

Choose a logo that works at a small size

Use a compact symbol rather than a full company name, tagline, or detailed badge. Shrink the image on screen before uploading: if the lettering disappears, use your icon or monogram instead. Trim unnecessary empty space in the logo file so you can judge the visible mark without making its overall footprint larger.

A transparent PNG is a practical starting file. Pick QR Code also accepts SVG, JPEG, and WebP logos, with a maximum file size of 500KB. Keep the QR pattern black on white while you test. DENSO WAVE recommends that baseline in its QR code FAQ; introduce brand colors only after the plain version works.

Add your logo in Pick QR Code

  1. Open the website link generator and paste the exact page visitors should reach. Scan the plain preview and confirm that destination.
  2. Expand Customize the look. Under Center icon or logo, choose Upload your logo (max 500KB) and select your file.
  3. Find Scan reliability and select High. Uploading a logo does not automatically select High, so check this control yourself.
  4. Use the logo's Size slider to keep it modest. The Margin slider changes the spacing around the center image; inspect both together instead of enlarging the logo until it fills the gap.
  5. Scan the new preview, then download the file. Scan that saved version from another screen before placing it in your layout.

You can choose a free center icon instead of uploading artwork. Once selected, check High again and follow the same scan tests.

What High error correction actually means

High is error-correction level H. DENSO's specification summary lists restoration of approximately 30% of codewords, the units carrying encoded data. That percentage is not permission to cover 30% of the square with artwork. The position and extent of the covered pattern still matter.

There is no universal safe logo percentage. Start small and test your exact URL, styling, export, and final size. DENSO warns that illustrations and deformation can slow reading or make a code unreadable in its design guidance.

Leave the outer blank border intact when arranging the artwork. DENSO specifies a quiet zone four modules wide on every side. The center logo's margin is a separate setting and cannot replace that outer border.

Check the downloaded logo, too

Use Download print-ready PNG for a raster file, or open Other file types to choose SVG. SVG preserves the QR shapes as vectors, but the center image is embedded separately: downloading SVG does not turn a PNG logo into vector artwork. Open the file in your actual layout software and check that the logo appears, stays sharp enough, and has not shifted.

Scan a proof after the final layout and finish. For sizing and paper checks, follow the QR printing guide.

Find which change stopped the scan

Remove the center design using its X button and download again. If the plain version works, restore a smaller logo and test with High selected. Return the code colors to black on white and the pattern to Square if it still struggles. Change one setting at a time.

If the preview works but the exported file fails, inspect the export in the software that opens it. If the saved file works but the proof fails, inspect layout scaling, contrast, and the outer border. If scanning opens the wrong page, correct the source link and regenerate; resizing the logo cannot repair a destination error.

Common questions

How large should a logo be inside a QR code?

There is no size percentage that guarantees a scan. Start with a small center mark, select High error correction, and test the saved file and final artwork. Reduce the logo if reading becomes slower or inconsistent.

Why did my uploaded logo not appear?

Check that the file is a supported image and is no larger than 500KB. PNG, SVG, JPEG, and WebP are accepted. If an SVG does not display as expected, try exporting the logo as PNG and uploading that version.

Does adding a logo change where the QR code goes?

No. The center image changes the appearance, while the URL field supplies the destination. Changing or removing the logo does not edit that link. Scan the final file and confirm the exact page before sharing it.
